Work in progress on the conversion to the new look!
Mock up of 2 in 1 custom exhaust.
Although it only seems a little modification, the slight re-positioning of the fuel tank had great impact on the overall look of the bike.
This picture also clearly shows the rear of the bike will be a bit shorter, and much higher.
We bobbed the frame right after the shock mounts, and then fabricated a mount for my new seat.
Also included in this new frame is the mount for the new silencer.
A new rim (Honda NSR125) was fitted in the rear.
Because the sprocket on the new rim had a different offset compared to my old wheel, we needed to find a solution.
We converted the old NSR125 sprocket into an adapter by removing it's teeth on a lath, and drilling some extra mounting holes for my new sprocket.
This new sprocket had to be modified severely to fit over the hub of the NSR wheel. This took hours of grinding, but had to be done!
Because I wanted a sportier riding position, we moved the foot rests to the rear. This also required the use of a new shift lever, which had to be used mounted backwards.
Now the gearbox had to be shifted up-side-down, Super Bike style!
Rough mock up to get some new inspiration and energy!
After painting of all items in FIAT red, it was time to start assembly, do some wiring and finish it all of with some upholstery.
